Derby City Centre Chaplaincy was launched in February 2011 to provide pastoral support to the thousands of people who work in the city centre, including the Intu Centre, the Markets, St. Peter’s Quarter and the Cathedral Quarter. From the beginning, chaplains developed long-term relationships with management and employees, as well as being available, as and when the opportunities arise, to shoppers and others visiting the city centre. From that starting point, Chaplaincy has now expanded into a range of different sectors, including Education, Leisure and Entertainment, Social Care (providing chaplains for staff, residents and families in Care Homes) and Community Healthcare Chaplaincy through a partnership with Derbyshire Community Healthcare Trust. There are now over 50 Chaplains, and we continue to grow!

Chaplains come from many churches in and around Derby, and offer an independent, impartial and confidential ear for those who want this support. This service is for people from all backgrounds, for those of all faiths or none.

Our vision is: Together, as part of the Church, we want to express the love of Jesus in public, personal and prophetic ways through a team of chaplains, offering encouragement and support to all people in their workplaces.
