A variety of small groups meet in people's homes during the week for Bible Study, prayer, support and fellowship. Groups meet at different times (daytime and evening) and serve different areas of Derby. In addition, there is a nurture group for those who are new to faith. Justice, Peace and Environment Group
St. Peter's Justice, Peace and Environment group meets approximately four times a year to explore a range of issues about climate change, social justice, and particular campaigns.
We meet together for an evening meal and then have a discussion, sometimes led by a speaker, other times by a member of the group. We have also looked at DVD resources such as "An Inconvenient Truth" and "The Story of Stuff".
All are welcome to join us and to contribute; for more information, please contact anita@stpetersderby.org.uk.

LENT PROJECT 2010: GAMBELA, ETHIOPIA
This Lent we raised money to support the work of our link churches in Ethiopia as they reach out to remote communities on the Sudanese border. Life isn't easy there, with food insecurity, tensions between different tribal groups, and lack of water, education and healthcare. Despite all of this, the Christians in the local churches are full of faith, eager to share God's love with those around them and to bring healing, hope and good news!
What will we do?
- provide water pumps and basic medical care for local communities.
- provide Bibles for local Christians and training in pastoral care, mission.
- support new projects for mission and sustainable income generation.
Over the last 5 years we have raised more than £26,000 to support projects in Bangladesh, Kenya, the Philippines and other locations. This year we want to make a lasting difference in the lives of MANY people on the Ethiopian Sudanese Border. A group of 8 people from St Peter's visited Ethiopia at Easter to work alongside Christians in Addis Ababa. Another visit is planned for Summer 2011 to work in the Gambela Region (in association with Habitat for Humanity) building houses and providing basic medical training.
